Bill Rankin and Allan Miller had a quality day on Loch Eck yesterday, Bill took five Sea-trout the biggest pictured here at 3.5lbs, and Allan landed a cracking sea trout at 5lb, top fish Allan’s bottom two Bill’s … All fish safely returned to the loch ! … Well done guys.
Loch Eck
The Loch Eck Competition starts this Saturday 7th and finishes Saturday 14th. Remember all salmon must be measured and/or photographed if possible and quickly returned to the water. No Sunday fishing ! Book your boat and day at Campbell’s paint shop. Tight Lines.
Last Sunday we had a successful day removing the old rails from under the mooring lines at Loch Eck boathouse, we had problems on several occasions where the rails damaged and severed lines, problem solved… they are oot ! Also gravel was put into the big dip before the boatshed which always fills knee deep with water after heavy periods of rain. Thanks to all who came down to lend a hand, and also to Stephen Landsburgh who operated the machine for us.
The last sea-trout caught on Loch Eck for 2016 was around the 2lb 4oz mark and safely returned after a quick photo, the lucky angler says there are plenty more left in the loch for next season.
The winner for this year of the Loch Eck Trophy is Keith McKenzie with his 8lb sea-trout, well done Keith ! … The event was rather poorly attended, which is a shame, because fishing for wild trout is what the sport is all about. Maybe next year will get more members fishing, lets hope so 🙂
Plenty fish are getting caught in Loch Eck, this Sea-trout caught by Bill Rankin was about the 1lb 8oz mark and safely returned. Reports of bigger fish jumping, so just goes to show the loch is producing the goods !
Several fish have been caught this week in the Loch Eck Competition but I think this beastie will take some beating, caught by Keith McKenzie a sea trout weighed in at 8lb’s and safely returned after a quick photo. Keith was fishing today with Bill Rankin who also caught. There is still a few days left to fish, with rain coming in for the weekend, could make a difference !
