The 4th P.J. Mackenzie Shield Competition will be held on Saturday the 10th August.
The Over 50’s and the 5th Mackenzie competition still to be decided.

There has been a slight change in times for our Moth Competition. The times are 6pm until 11.00pm way- in.

Loch Tarsan. Competition. No. 2
The second Tarsan Competition of 2024 saw some very good bags returned. All 5 anglers who took part weighed in fish at the end of a decent day on the Loch, three of whom had catch limits of 5 fish each. Warmer air temperatures, overcast skies and a light breeze presented very reasonable conditions for Loch Tarsan, although the water level is beginning to drop and expose the mud again. Once again Bill Rankin edged it for his second successive competition win. Alan Miller and Graeme Henry were second and third respectively, with only an ounce between them. Keith MacKenzie had 4 decent trout, while yours truly managed a brace. Biggest fish of the day went to Bill also with a 1lbs 3.9 oz specimen.
1.Bill Rankin. 5 fish. 5lbs 3.4 oz
2. Alan Miller. 5fish. 4lbs 14 oz
3. Graeme Henry. 5 fish. 4lbs 12.8 oz
4. Keith MacKenzie. 4 fish. 3lbs 14.6 oz
5. Duncan F. MacGillivray. 2 fish. 1lbs 14.3 oz
All in all, it was an enjoyable day that saw the race for the Club Championship gather a bit of pace. It promises to be a keenly contested season. Well done to all who participated. Next up at Tarsan is the Moth Competition on the evening of Friday 14th June followed by Competition No. 3 on Saturday 22nd June. Hope to see you there!

Tarsan Convener.

The AGM was held on Tuesday 6th February at the Argyll Hotel and was attended better than last year with a turn-out of 30 members.
Members approved 2 proposals on the night – firstly membership subscriptions increase by £10 and reduction of catch limit from 3 to 2 fish on the Reservoir, Loch Tarsan and Loch Loskin. All competitions would remain as first 5 fish. The Committee was re-elected en-bloc for another year.
After the business of the meeting, presentation of prizes was held with Graeme Henry being Club Champion.
Thanks to all who attended.
Best
Davy, President

The ethos and purpose of the Rover Trophy is to encourage and promote fishing across all of the club waters.
Primarily to motivate more members to fish our migratory fish waters, and ultimately to catch fish from all eight club waters during the current season.
It is decidedly not a competition, but rather a challenge, and its success or otherwise is to be gauged by how many members discover or rediscover the joy of catching wild fish in wild places.
The entry to the challenge is by a timely submission of the annual returns, i.e. by the 25th of November of the current season.
All members who make a return by that date will be considered for the trophy.
The criteria for the award is as stated – To catch at least one fish from as many, or, the ultimate goal, all of the clubs’ waters. Using any method allowed, relative to that water.
Priority will be given to the migratory fish waters, and consideration will also be given to numbers and weights of all fish caught (except those taken from our stocked trout waters, which still need to be fished).
In the event of multiple members equalling the waters fished successfully, if necessary, the Committee will make a final decision as to the successful recipient member.
The Pittman Competition ran from Sunday 17th September until Sunday 24th September.
Seventeen members fished the competition over a terrible week of wind and rain. On Sunday 17th September, 3 members weighed in with 5 fish each.
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, no members weighed in due to high winds and heavy rain. On Friday 22nd September, 5 members fished from 7.30 am until the weigh-in at 5.00 pm at the car park. None of the members had touched a fish.
Two skilled members fished the Reservoir on Saturday from dawn until 3.00 pm and did not touch a fish.
No members weighed in on Sunday 24th due to high winds and rain again.
The results are as follows:
1st – David Halliday – 5 fish for total weight 10 lb 6 oz
2nd – Gordon Cardy – 5 fish for total weight 9 lb 14 oz
3rd – Ron Ganley – 5 fish for total weight 9 lb 12 oz
Heaviest fish – David Halliday – 2 lb 10 oz
Therefore David Halliday wins the Pittman Competition and also has the heaviest fish. Well done David!
