Bill Rankin and Alister McGilvery were out on Loch Eck on 8th Oct. Bill caught three nice fish, the biggest was 2.5 lbs and the others were half pounders, all returned safely. All caught on the fly … Well done !
Worthy winner of the competition was Bill Rankin with his 3lb Sea-Trout … well done Bill ! Twelve members fished during the week, a good turn-out for the time of year, The weather was terrific, blue sky, gentle light breezes, but unfortunately not the ideal conditions for Loch Eck. Hopefully next year will bring a bigger response and more favorable weather for trophy.
Winner of the largest fish at the Reservoir was John Pickett Sr with 1lb 15oz, in second place Jake Chambers with 1lb 12oz

Result for the 1st semi-final for the Scottish Clubs Competition
Lee Lindop, Keith McKenzie and Bill Rankin came 17th out of 21 clubs taking part. It was a hard days fishing to this level of competition angling against the very best (21 teams were competing, including 5 previous winners), as can be seen by the result chart above. First place (not shown here) won with 25 fish, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places with 20 fish. The weather was not always kind to the angler, some rain, flat calm – strong breeze – small ripple and strong sunshine.
All had to fish with barbless or debarbed hooks with the first ten places up for grabs. Unfortunately a member of our team had his fly rod broken and could not fish thereafter.
Ahh … just another three fish !!
The Cameron Cup has again been won by Keith MacKenzie with four fish, not as good as last year however when he had six.
John Pickett Snr and Ronnie Ganley ran him a close second with three fish each.
If it had come down to deciding it on weight Keith would still have won with 9lbs 9ozs, next would have been John with 6lbs 14ozs followed by Ronnie with 6lbs 12ozs. So quite tight !
