The winner for this year of the Loch Eck Trophy is Keith McKenzie with his 8lb sea-trout, well done Keith ! … The event was rather poorly attended, which is a shame, because fishing for wild trout is what the sport is all about. Maybe next year will get more members fishing, lets hope so 🙂

Plenty fish are getting caught in Loch Eck, this Sea-trout caught by Bill Rankin was about the 1lb 8oz mark and safely returned. Reports of bigger fish jumping, so just goes to show the loch is producing the goods !

Several fish have been caught this week in the Loch Eck Competition but I think this beastie will take some beating, caught by Keith McKenzie a sea trout weighed in at 8lb’s and safely returned after a quick photo. Keith was fishing today with Bill Rankin who also caught. There is still a few days left to fish, with rain coming in for the weekend, could make a difference !

Some decent sea trout are getting caught on Loch Eck, the one pictured above was caught on the fly last week (and safely returned), the weather is similar to last year for the competition, no rainfall forecast and bright sunshine too, not an ideal combination but fish are getting caught on the loch, so get out there and get fishing !
The Loch Eck Trophy starts this Saturday 8th and runs till the following Saturday 15th, weigh-in will be at 5pm at the boathouse each day. When you book your boat tell John at the Paint Shop you are fishing the competition.

Bill Rankin caught his first salmon from the River Ruel today, a nice cock fish around the 6+lbs mark, all he would divulge was it was taken on a size 12 fly, a quick photo and then safely returned to the water to continue its journey. Well done Bill and thanks for sharing.

Some nice catches weighed in so far in the Pittman Competition, Peter Manson (above) weighed in with 13lb 11oz on the second day, got a feeling that score will be hard to beat … good work Peter 🙂
The winner of the Outings Trophy for this year was Bill Rankin, who also caught the heaviest fish. Well done Bill 🙂
