A couple of photos taken at the weekend shows a big difference to the loch after the weed cutting operation recently, a job well done indeed !
On Saturday 22 September, Dunoon and District Angling Club had their third and final outing of the season to Loch Frandy near Auchterarder. Fishing started at 9 am and the weather was extremely windy and cold. Fishing was tough but the wind subsided slightly during the afternoon. 10 members had an enjoyable day and a total of 17 fish were caught. Davy Landsburgh, President of DDAC presented Ron Ganley with a bottle of whisky for the Best Basket with 3 rainbow trout weighing a total of 6 lbs 7 oz and also a half bottle of whisky to Bill Duff who had the heaviest rainbow trout weighing 2 lb 7 oz. Ron Ganley won the A Cameron Outings cup and will be presented with the trophy at the Annual Dinner on 24 November.
Member Stephen Frew landed his personal best Rainbow Trout up at the Reservoir, a good hard fighting fish and safely returned.

Member Bill Rankin fished the evening rise up at Loch Tarsan a couple of days ago, he fished floating line with size 14 nymphs. It was a cool evening with a gentle breeze going down to a flat calm, said he took five fish all to this size (10″). Members are missing out not fishing at this time of the evening as there is good sport to be had.
A reminder that next competition is the Pittman Trophy which starts on the 16th September and runs till the 23rd, members are required to purchase a permit at the Paint Shop and choose their day for fishing during that week.
Fifth Tarsan Competition 4th August
The loch was high enough for the last competition to take place. A dull and overcast day with a light wind, four members weighed in at the boathouse. The top rod on the day was Allan Miller with 10@ 6lb 11oz, well done Allan.
The winner of the P.J. Mackenzie Trophy was Lee Lindop with 28@ 17lb 5oz.
The Tarsan Cup went to Harry Lindop with a trout of 1lb
Well fished guys !
On a lighter note DDAC member Simon Mullins found this “Rainbow Trout” on the shelves of a “weel kent” supermarket chain down in Yorkshire.

Photo taken this morning 19th July, water still exceptionally low at the loch, one boat high and dry at usual moorings, the other two are afloat “just” at the other mooring lines just a few yards down the bank. Those brave enough to bank fish please be careful as the mud is soft, and it is advisable not to fish alone !
