Residents are reporting on Facebook about an algal bloom on Dunoon Reservoir, it appears to be nothing more sinister than POLLEN ! …. So the water is safe to fish. Tight lines everyone 😉

Water level is still depressingly low on the loch as the video shows. So please take care when bank fishing as the mud is still soft and dangerous.

Tarsan Competition Day 1

There was a very poor turnout for the first competition of the 2019 season with only four anglers competing and only two anglers weighing in at 6 pm.
Lee Lindop was the top rod with four fish for 2lbs 2oz and the heaviest fish of 10 1/2 ozs. Second was Allan Miller with one fish for 8oz. Conditions were mixed starting off with a flat calm followed by a light breeze and showers. Plenty of fish showing to start off then they seemed to go down.

1st Tarsan Competition will go ahead

The 1st Tarsan competition is on this Saturday as scheduled, but members must take care when walking the banks and especially when wading, as the silt is soft and holds hidden pockets that you can sink up to the knees.  Start at 12 noon at the boat house.

Situation at Loch Tarsan

Posted by dunoonangling on March 31, 2019
Posted in: Loch Tarsan, News. Leave a comment

Dear Members. The Tarsan will not be stocked this coming week as the water is extremely low and as you can see the boats are high and dry in the mud. If fishing from the bank, please be extremely careful as the banks are very muddy and soft. This may affect the 1st Tarsan Competition, will let members know nearer the time.

First fish of the season for Simon

Simon Mullins braved the snow and wind on Saturday and took a boat out on Loch Loskin, he said conditions were difficult but managed to land this one before the end. It looks remarkably like a seatrout, maybe somebody will prove us wrong  ? 😉

Boats have now been put in at Loch Tarsan ready for the start of the 2019 season as the water level is back to normal. Only three boats are available just now as one is still getting repaired. A big thanks to all who came up to lend a hand at a very wet and blustery loch yesterday.

Update re Loch Tarsan

Posted by dunoonangling on March 10, 2019
Posted in: Loch Loskin, Loch Tarsan, News. Leave a comment

The boats are still not in at Tarsan as yet, Andy Lancaster was unable to put moorings out due to the low water level and the mud, also the loch has not been stocked yet for the same reason.  Loch Loskin has had walkways at shed fixed with new timbers and has been stocked with quality brownies all ready for the 15th. We will post up news on the situation at Tarsan when we know the details.  Thanks for your patience.
