Very well done to Lee, Allan and Ronnie.
The next Tarsan Competition (Day 3) is on Saturday 25th, the last two days have been poorly attended, so lets see if we can get a few more competitors for Day 3.
The second day of the Mackenzie competition was held yesterday at Loch Tarsan ,with yet again only three members competing, all three attended the weigh in at 6pm. Top rod was Lee Lindop with 10 fish for 8lbs 11ozs and his heaviest fish of 1lb 6.5oz, in second place on the day was Ron Ganley with 8 fish for a weight of 5lbs 5oz and a heaviest fish of 1 lb 5oz and Allan Miller came in third place with 2 fish for 2 lbs 1oz with his heaviest at 1lb 3oz .
The day was a mixture of bright sun some cloud cover at times but biting icy cold breeze most of the day.
There was a very poor turnout for the first competition of the 2019 season with only four anglers competing and only two anglers weighing in at 6 pm.
Lee Lindop was the top rod with four fish for 2lbs 2oz and the heaviest fish of 10 1/2 ozs. Second was Allan Miller with one fish for 8oz. Conditions were mixed starting off with a flat calm followed by a light breeze and showers. Plenty of fish showing to start off then they seemed to go down.
On Saturday 24 November, Dunoon and District Angling Club held their 69th Annual Dinner and Presentation of Prizes for 2018 in the Argyll Hotel. Pipe major, Duncan McLeod piped in the top table, led by Club President Davy Landsburgh. A very nervous Davy then welcomed members and guests. Two guests from Dunrod Angling Club, Greenock, Willie Thornton, past-president and Ronnie Stevenson were warmly welcomed. Mr William Dick from New Cumnock and Mr Russell Buchanan, past-president of DDAC were the guest speakers. The evening started with Joe Docherty saying Grace followed by a first-class meal. Mr William Dickgave an extremely entertaining and funny talk finishing with a toast to Dunoon and District Angling Club. This was followed by the presentation of prizes.

After the presentation of trophies, Mr Russell Buchanan, past-president of DDAC gave a very interesting talk on how to enjoy your fishing and look after the planet finishing with a toast to “The Gentle Art”.
Bill Duff, Honorary Secretary, was last year’s recipient of the Macaulay Tankard. This tankard is presented each year to an unsuspecting recipient for services to the Club. This year’s winner was Professor Jim Sharp who was given 15 minutes to prepare a reply which was very witty and entertaining including a short song.
The Chairman, Davy Landsburgh, thanked all contributors for a real “guid” night and especially thanked members and guests for their continued support of the dinner. Russell Buchanan proposed a vote of thanks to the President for chairing a fine evening which resulted in a standing ovation.
There were only six members took part with only three members weighing in, the overall winner was Bill Rankin who weighed in two fish for 1lb 3oz, second was Allan Miller with two fish for 1lb 1oz and third was Keith McKenzie with one fish for 8ozs.
The last three days of very heavy rain made conditions exceedingly hard for members to fish the competition, Joe Docherty was up today (Tuesday) and never even got afloat as the loch was rising and put him in doubt of his ability to safely get the boat re-moored. He sent me these photos of the situation.
Also here are a couple of photos of the River Massan looking very angry.
